Description

A delicious recipe for udon noodles with a savory umami flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 grams Udon Noodles (Fresh or frozen for best results.)
  • 2 cups Water (For boiling noodles.)
  • 2 tablespoons Salted Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce (Crucial for authentic flavor.)
  • 1 teaspoon Dashi Powder (Can use dashi stock concentrate as an alternative.)
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onions (Finely chopped for garnish.)
  • 1 tablespoon Nori (Seaweed) Shredded (Optional.)
  • 1 tablespoon Bonito Flakes (Katsuobushi) (Optional.)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add udon noodles and cook them for 2–3 minutes until tender but still chewy.
  2. In a large frying pan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add dashi powder and a splash of water, stirring well for about 1 minute.
  3. Toss the cooked udon noodles into the pan, sautéing for 3–4 minutes until slightly crisp and golden.
  4. Remove from heat and drizzle in soy sauce, tossing the noodles to distribute the flavors.
  5. Plate the noodles and garnish with chopped green onions, nori, and bonito flakes as desired.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh udon noodles.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce for personal taste.
