- 1/4 cup cocoa powder

- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, and 1 teaspoon baking soda.
- In another bowl, cream together 3/4 cup unsalted butter and 2 cups granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add in 2 large eggs one at a time, then incorporate 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of red food coloring.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with 1/2 cup of buttermilk.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- While the cookies cool, whip together 8 oz of cream cheese, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, and 4 cups powdered sugar.
- Once cooled, frost the cookies with the cream cheese mixture.
Notes
- Ensure the butter is softened for easier creaming with sugar.
- For a more vibrant color, adjust the amount of red food coloring as desired.
