Description

A rich and creamy potato gratin made with Gruyère cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds potatoes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes evenly using a mandoline or sharp knife.
  2. Warm the heavy cream in a saucepan with minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Simmer gently.
  3. Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  4. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden.
  5. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving for easier slicing and better flavor.
