Description
A creamy dip made with caramelized onions, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 medium sweet onions
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- to taste Salt
- to taste Pepper
Instructions
- Dice the onions into a medium dice.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until they start to soften, then turn the heat down to medium-low.
- Cook the onions, stirring often, until they are a deep golden brown. If they start to stick or if it looks like they are drying out, add a splash of water. Once caramelized, (this will take about 45 minutes), remove from the heat.
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix to combine.
- Add the caramelized onions and stir to combine. Taste, and add salt and pepper, to taste.
- You can serve the dip right away, but I like to refrigerate it for about 30 minutes to let it set up slightly.
Notes
- This dip is best served chilled and can be made ahead of time.
- Try serving it with chips, crackers, or fresh veggies.
