Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (for dough)
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup pepperoni slices
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Prepare the Dough:
- Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the dough until smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
Prepare the Filling:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll the dough out into a large circle, 1/2 inch thick. Place it in a greased deep dish pizza pan, pressing it up the sides.
-
Assemble the Pizza Pie:
- Spread pizza sauce on the bottom of the dough, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese.
- Add pepperoni slices and black olives over the cheese.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top, then fold the dough edge over to create a crust.
-
Bake:
- Brush the melted butter over the crust, and sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
-
Serve:
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For a crispier crust, you can pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding the toppings.
- Experiment with additional toppings like green peppers or onions for extra flavor.
- Ensure not to overload the pizza with toppings to avoid a soggy center.
