Description

A delicious deep dish pepperoni pizza pie with a crispy crust and flavorful toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (for dough)
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
    • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
    • Knead the dough until smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Filling:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Roll the dough out into a large circle, 1/2 inch thick. Place it in a greased deep dish pizza pan, pressing it up the sides.
  3. Assemble the Pizza Pie:

    • Spread pizza sauce on the bottom of the dough, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese.
    • Add pepperoni slices and black olives over the cheese.
    • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top, then fold the dough edge over to create a crust.
  4. Bake:

    • Brush the melted butter over the crust, and sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  5. Serve:

    • Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
    • Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, you can pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding the toppings.
  • Experiment with additional toppings like green peppers or onions for extra flavor.
  • Ensure not to overload the pizza with toppings to avoid a soggy center.
